Contraceptive implant now lasts for five years

Following robust clinical evidence, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) guidance now states that the contraceptive implant remains safe and 99% effective for up to five years.

This is a change from the previous guidance, which stated that the implant was effective for up to three years.

This means that you will not need your implant replacing as early as previously stated.
